About USFP Guide

USFP Guide follows USFP, the 400G-per-lane pluggable optics format Cisco and NVIDIA announced in October 2026, and the formats it competes with: OSFP, OSFP-XD, XPO, Open CPX and co-packaged optics. It is written for the network engineers, architects and buyers who will have to choose between them.

When USFP was announced we found the press releases, a handful of analyst notes and plenty of rewritten news stories, but nowhere that kept the published facts, the open questions and the competing formats side by side and up to date. So we keep it here, with a source for every figure and a status tracker we check at least monthly.

We are independent. We aren't Cisco, NVIDIA, a member of any multi-source agreement or a module maker, and none of them approves or pays for what we write. Where a figure is a company's own claim, we say so.

Who publishes this site

USFP Guide is published by Bonkeno Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company no. 10303754). You can check the company on Companies House.

How we work

Every figure on this site comes from a source we link to: the maker, the regulator, the government or published research or reviews. We check pages regularly, and each page shows the date it was last updated. If you spot something wrong or out of date, email [email protected] and we'll fix it.

We don't accept payment to change what we say about a product, and we never claim to have tested something we haven't.
